The BAU Cyprus Law Journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of
publication ethics. Our ethical guidelines are based on the principles of the
Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication
process—authors, editors, reviewers and publisher—must agree to adhere to these
standards.
Duties of the Publisher
- Editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of scholarly merit and are not
influenced by commercial or personal interests. - The publisher monitors the integrity of the journalʼs academic record and will
publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when necessary. - All submissions are checked for plagiarism using plagiarism-detection
software prior to peer review.
Duties of Editors - Editors have full authority to accept or reject a manuscript and must maintain
the confidentiality of submissions. - Editors ensure that peer reviewers remain anonymous and that conflicts of
interest are disclosed and managed. - Editors strive to maintain academic integrity and follow COPEʼs Code of
Conduct for Journal Editors.
Duties of Reviewers - Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and provide constructive
feedback to authors. - Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts, disclose conflicts
of interest and conduct reviews objectively and within the agreed timeframe. - Reviewers should report any suspected ethical breaches, such as plagiarism
or duplication.
Duties of Authors - Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been published
elsewhere or is under consideration by another journal.
- Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions
to the conception, design, execution and interpretation of the study. - Authors are responsible for obtaining ethical approval for research involving
human or animal subjects and must disclose any conflicts of interest. - Authors should acknowledge all sources used and obtain permission to
reproduce material from other publications. - If authors discover errors or inaccuracies after publication, they must promptly
notify the journal so that corrections can be made.
We take allegations of research misconduct seriously and will follow COPE guidelines
to investigate any concerns raised.
