Instructions for authors

The BAU Cyprus Law Journal (BCLJ), accepts submissions of Research Articles, Essays, Notes, Translations of Texts, Case Reviews/Analysis, and Book Reviews through our email address law.journal@baucyprus.edu.tr

We request that authors comply with the following standards:

General Style:

The BCLJ uses the Oxford Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA). Please refer to OSCOLA for detailed information on citation style.

Format and Structure:

Manuscripts must include the author’s name, email address, affiliation, and a brief biography.

An abstract of no more than 150 words and 5-10 keywords must be included with manuscripts.

Manuscripts should be submitted in one of Microsoft Word formats and double-spaced.

In general, headings should not exceed three levels, and the following consistent hierarchy of headings must be used:

I. FIRST LEVEL OF HEADING

a. Second Level of Heading

i. Third Level of Heading

British (-ise) spelling style should be consistently used in manuscripts.

We encourage the use of gender-neutral language.

Length/Word Count:

Articles should not exceed 10,000 words (including text, footnotes, and appendices), and notes (essays) should be approximately 5,000 words in length.

Exclusivity:

The manuscripts submitted for the journal must not be published and/or be under consideration for publication anywhere else.

Open access option for our viewers:

In order to encourage scholarly research and the free exchange of legal information, our publication will provide readers with immediate open access to all of its material.

Review Process:

The BAU Cyprus Law Journal carefully considers all submissions that it receives. The journal follows a double-blind peer review model. The final decision on publication rests with the editors.
